Christmas Countdown:  12 DAYS

For years and years I’ve been making handmade cards for people’s birthdays and Christmas.  There was always a huge craft stash at home for making fun and thoughtful things with.  If you’ve gone to the effort of a handmade or locally-sourced gift for someone this year, why not top it off nicely with a handmade card?

If you feel like you don’t have the time, pick only a few of the most special people to receive your handy work; your friends and family who will truly appreciate it.  And cut down the complication by picking one design, and just change up the colours or decorative bits.  Easy!

I made one of these pop-up tree cards for my husband Steve a couple of years ago.  I made mine in green card with a red card background.  It turned out really nice!  I decorated the tree with hand-drawn garlands and baubles, using metallic pens.  But you could go all out, and add glitter, buttons, sequins… anything small, round and shiny!  Full instructions here.

Not only are these fun to give, they’re also fun to make!!

And if you’re in the Auckland area, and are looking for ideas of how to creatively wrap your handmade or locally-sourced gift, be sure to pop along to the Sew Love workshop at the K Road Christmas Fiesta, between 12 and 3pm.

Enjoy!
