Every girl needs a go-to summer dress.  What’s that?  Spontaneous +1 invite to a Christmas function?  End-of-year party for work?  Lazy Sunday drinks by the water?  Full day of shopping, with no time to go home before having to look incredible for tonight’s dinner with friends?  Picnic in the park or at the beach, with friends and new friends-to-be?

This is my answer to all of those scenarios.  My favourite, go-to summer dress.  Pink palm fronds print and all the tucks and pleats hitting me in just the right places.  I always look and feel polished in this little number.  It’s always a winner with others too.  The shape, the colour, the print; a combination hard not to love!

I developed the style by splicing a shortened skirt of a vintage 60’s dress pattern, with a bustier I had created as part of a Rita Hayworth-inspired project I had done.  The bust was further designed, from a sleeveless deep-v to the cuter, flirty petal shape you see here.  I placed the straps so they would hit exactly where my bra-straps were, to keep the visual of the dress clean and unfussy.  Bra-straps; ruining necklines and sleeveless shapes since ages ago.

I love this dress.  I can throw it on in five minutes, and then ZIP, Formal-Dan is ready for the ball!  Add a pair of pink shoes, black handbag, black 60’s shades, and on this festive day, a matching flower crown, and BAM, you’ve got summer owned!
