Shorts have gotten tighter and shorter by the year, and men haven’t been left out of this trend. The current silhouette of men’s shorts is a square, or close to it. Just as long as they are wide. Which is, as a result, showing off and cooling off plenty of scrawny, hairy knees.
Think preppy 90s sportswear; and for the die-hard 90s-trend follower, they come in pastel and sorbet tones! Want even more 90’s? Throw a belt on. And not a hip-slung, studded belt, more for show than function. You wanna make sure that baby is brown leather, is through the belt-loops, and actually has a chance against an impending downtrail.
There’s also a popular turn-up Bermuda-style in denim, which is slightly longer in the leg, but still above the knee. The turn-up is only ever a couple of centimetres. Any more, and you look like you haven’t re-adjusted your pants after paddling in the sea.
If denim isn’t your bag, the turn-up Bermuda comes in grungier 90s tones like terracotta, mustard, brown, and tan. Or, in an all-over Hawaiian-inspired print, in the same grungey tones. And don’t forget your matching all-over print button-up shirt and matching 5-panel cap! Trés chic!
Not long now though, for knees to be put away for the winter. But do not fear, I’m sure we’ll be seeing them again next summer.
